When in the market for a new dog, one of the best things you can do is adopt and there are plenty of shelters waiting to give you your own little friend. Any online search on your small business xo internet or the like is bound to turn up a shelter near you, but it’s always important to do your research and spend an ample amount of time preparing for the new arrival.

All dogs are different. They are as diverse as human beings when it comes to their personalities and they all have individual needs that have to be addressed. Having an idea what breed you are interested in and what will be required of you is a great place to start. If, during your online searches, you find a candidate who you think will make a welcome addition to the family then you should take inventory of your income and your savings to make sure you can afford it – the only thing worse than not adopting a dog is adopting one with no clear means to take care of it.

And remember that your dog has been through a lot – both the transition into the shelter and the transition out again. If your dog seems like the literal dog from hell, give it time. He needs to adjust and he needs to know that you love him.

Animal overpopulation is a real threat, and one that strikes close to home. Pet owners take on an animal with the intentions of loving them, making them a part of the family, but not everyone has the animal’s best interest at heart. Neglect, abuse and abandonment have risen in large numbers in recent years, but this can be stopped. Animal shelters are there to help in an animal’s time of need, and can provide care that other owners may not be able to give.

If you’re thinking of adopting a dog or cat, try looking into a shelter animal from a local rescue center. Your local chamber of commerce will be able to provide you with information on where a shelter is, or you can simply try the phone book. A quick search online of animal shelters in your city and state can also shed light on where to find an animal to bring home. Consider what you want in a pet first, and make sure your family home can support the type of animal you’ll be adopting. Bringing home an animal is not something to be taken lightly, and must be done with love and support in your heart.

When bringing home your new cat, there are a few items you will need to have for your feline friend.
Cats require a warm, cozy place for sleeping, so you will need to have a cat bed with clean bedding for your cat’s relaxation.
Have two clean bowls for fresh food and water; kitty snacks also make a delightful treat for your cat.
Cats love playtime, so keep a variety of cat toys available; pet shops offer a great selection of safe and fun toys for your kitty.
A litter box, with clean litter, is a must-have; cats are extremely clean animals, so you will need to scoop their litter box out daily.
Keeping a pet-formulated shampoo and soft cat brush available are also very important; cats need to be brushed regularly to keep their fur healthy and help prevent hairballs.
Another must-have is a cat collar and name tag, ensuring your cat can be returned home if she becomes lost.
Cats also love to climb, so having a cat tree or perch allows them the opportunity for some fun exploration.
With a few preparations, and a lot of love, your cat is sure to be delighted with her new home.

Becoming a pet owner can be one of the most rewarding experiences in life. When you get a new dog there are a few things you must have available for the both of you. Of course the most important thing you need to get your new dog is food. You may have to have a variety of brands and flavors to make sure and find the food that best suits your dogs needs and appetite. Also purchase a book on training your dog and about your breeds information in general. Chew toys are also a must. You don’t want the dog chewing your furniture, doors, or anything in your house. It is also very important that you get a good shampoo that will be sensitive enough to not bother your dog’s skin. A clean dog is a happy dog. A pooper scooper will also be needed. A great stain and spot remover will be necessary for any accidents the dog may have. Soft training treats will also be very useful in training your new dog. And lastly your dog must have a space of its own. A blanket and crate will get your dog used to being in its space.

The conditions that dogs live in are deplorable when they are breeding dogs and their litters if their breeders run puppy mills. The inhumane conditions are beyond horrible but for most of these dogs, they are places of disease, abuse and illness. Some of the puppies are born maimed, blind or deaf. They are quickly discarded by any means to kill them and keep the healthier puppies. The mothers are bred constantly never allowing their bodies to recover to a healthy status from one litter to the next. They, too, once they can no longer produce litters are either killed or sold to another breeder in hopes of perhaps producing maybe one other litter.
The dogs are all confined to small cages or inadequate kennels without proper ventilation or sanitation for the animals to relieve themselves. The food is often of poor quality and insufficient amounts which just barely keep the female dog going enough to carry the puppies and then provide milk for them. They have no human contact or affection usually because they are just simply a means of money or income for breeders. They are registered dogs of different breeds but due to poor conditions, they come with inherited deficiencies and illnesses.
Please buy your puppy only from a compassionate and reputable breeder.
